In Hyderabad, the concentration of IT industry is in and around Cyberabad Development Area, i.e., Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Hitec City, Gachibowli, Manikonda, Nanakram Guda, Raidurg, etc, spread over around 10 crore sft of office space, with 4,00,000 employees(33% women), including IT Parks, Multinational IT corporate campuses and foreign nationals, requiring provision of adequate security and safety network not only to the population inhabiting but also to the corporate houses, buildings and vital installations in this area.
In view of the above scenario, and in view of the peaceful growth & development of the State, it is felt that a collaborative effort by the Industry and Government to take care of the security & safety interests of the larger section of the people in this Area, supplementing the efforts of the Government, is needed. As such “SOCIETY FOR CYBERABAD SECURITY COUNCIL” (SCSC) is formed by the IT Industry, developers of IT Parks, Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, IT&C Department, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) of the Government, etc.
The State of Telangana has been at the forefront of India’s Information Technology (IT) growth. Telangana contributes more than 11% share of the Indian IT exports market and ranks IV in national level competitiveness. For the year 2005-2006, erstwhile combined AP achieved an Exports turnover of Rs.12521 crores and now (2007-08) it has reached Rs.25,000 crores , with a growth rate of 51%, which is highest in the country, as against the national average of 36%. Further, exports in IT sector, accounted for more than 53.3% of the total exports from all the other sectors in the State. IT is, therefore, identified as one of the prime Growth Engine’s for speedy socio-economic development of the State.Gartner in its report on “IT Outsourcing to India − Analysis of Cities” has mentioned that Hyderabad would be the IT Hotspot by 2010 and has rated it high on account of Infrastructure and Human Resources. Telangana State provides the right climate for the growth of IT business and is now the most preferred destination in the country. Hyderabad is, therefore, the most preferred IT destination in the Country, and is home for major MNC IT giants and Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, Motorola, GE, HSBC, Deloitte, IBM, Computer Associates, CSC, Amazon, UBS, Bank of America, Dell, Convergys, Celetronix, HCL, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Polaris, Qualcomm, Cypress Semiconductors, Adaptec, ADP, Google, Kanbay, Infotech, Cognizant, Franklin Templeton, Accenture, Synopsis, TCS, Synchrony Financials, Open Text and many others.
SCSC initiated four sub – committees to look after various aspects related to Safety & Security Forum , Women Safety Forum, Traffic Forum and Cyber Security Forum.
